Stuart May is a native of Glasgow, Scotland. While on vacation in Tofino, on BC’s Vancouver Island Stuart found the Pacific Northwest so infectious that he stayed. Now a resident of Western Washington Stuart has become an award winning nature photographer and with his wife Kelly own Fusions Artist Gallery and Introspective vision.
In 2001 Stuart was commissioned by the National Parks of Canada to update their archives of the Pacific Rim National Park. Stuart’s photographs have also been used by Tofino’s Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Choice, as well as by local hotels and Bed and Breakfast establishments to draw tourism to the area. In 2001 Stuart also had the front cover of British Columbia’s tourism Association Magazine. His credits include publication in various magazines including Canadian Wildlife and Camera and Darkroom magazines.
Stuart is a conservationist, nature lover and animal rights advocate whose love of the natural world can be seen in his Black & White, Colour and Infrared photographs. Each of his framed prints is an original and each time a new print is made it is changed slightly from the previous print. Every print is archivally mounted and matted with acid free products. By doing so, he ensures that every print in a run is truly an original work of art that will last a lifetime. His photographs can be viewed at galleries in Sandpoint Idaho, Spokane Washington, the convention center in Ocean Shores Washington and are in private collections throughout Canada, Ghana, the United States and his beloved Scotland.
