Larry Walden (Spring 2013)

I have a lifelong love of art and have thought of myself as an artist since I was eight years old. I grew up as the only child of an artist and being taken to museums, galleries, and classes was a normal occurrence. To this day I am happy, energized and even joyful when I am inspired by nature and can paint.

I began my formal training in a commercial art school while in high school in Houston. My academic training was at the Art Students League of New York where I studied primarily oil painting and received a certificate of completion. I served on the Board of Control, an elected position and the governing body of the League for three years. I studied painting and drawing with Frank Mason and Artistic Anatomy with Robert Beverly Hale. I have also taken workshops in the pastel medium with several well known artists.

I strongly believe the principles of painting are of the utmost importance no matter the style, medium or experience of the artists and I continue to work with the goal of creating art reflecting the greatness of the past and present.
